Why epiSTEMe ?
epistēmē is a philosophical concept referring to the body of scientific knowledge, know-how of an era and its presuppositions, [Michel Foucault, 1970, The Order of Things].
Public interest
Developing and maintaining skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) is in the public interest, as it provides citizens with the analytical tools and evidence-based reasoning necessary to thrive in a technology-driven world. Mastery of these disciplines (STEM) empowers citizens to make informed choices regarding health, the environment, and public policy, while fostering the creativity and problem-solving skills that drive innovation and economic growth. Faced with the complex challenges confronting societies, citizens with STEM skills can collaborate, adapt to new opportunities, and contribute to a resilient and forward-looking future.
